One of the major clients of its flagship Benchmark Index service is the Australian Government through their national Enterprise Connect initiative delivered by a team of more than 100 business advisers. For more than 3 years, they have used this powerful tool to provide an objective foundation to identify the areas of support that businesses need and will have a real impact on the competitiveness of the recipient businesses. So far over 1,000 businesses have benefitted from the service with excellent results being seen.
As a result of this success, the Benchmark Index has recently been licensed for a further 2-year period. It is also set to take on a more integral role in the ongoing service provided, with businesses being benchmarked 4 times over a 3-year support period to identify their progress and the impact of the support as well as diagnose needs at the outset. The benchmarking will continue to throw light on the strengths and weaknesses of participant organisations, helping them identify those areas that can help them increase profits and grow their businesses. It is proving to make positive and sustainable improvements, and is a real catalyst for businesses to boost their performance.
Mark Modena, of Winning Moves, commented, “our aim is to help businesses develop stretching goals and effective strategies for future development. When benchmarking is embraced as a positive agent for effective change, it homes in on the areas that really need attention and will make the most difference. The Benchmark Index continues to be adopted all round the world and growth is set to continue through increased use from our clients including the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, and adoption into new countries with endorsement from authoritative partners such as IPK Fraunhofer, the largest research organisation in Europe, and the European Small Business Benchmarking Network”. Bryn Evans of the Enterprise Connect team within the Australian Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research who license the tool said, “the business advisers really love the tool”, citing the main reasons as it being “online, objective, based on data, easy to use and highly effective”.
The Enterprise Connect programme is delivered right across Australia by a team of experienced, expert business advisers who specialise in supporting a variety of different sectors. These industries include Manufacturing, and Creative Industries. Over 2,000 SMEs per annum are assisted, receiving up to 10 days of support. In view of its success, the programme is set to be expanded into new sectors such as Defence and Tourism, despite the reduction in public sector funding which is being seen in Australia in keeping with many other countries, including the UK.
