UNIDO
The United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) has been running a programme for the past 30 years to help local enterprises successfully meet the challenge of globalisation. Regional Subcontract Partnership Exchanges (SPXs) work with local enterprises, helping them become subcontractors to transnational companies.
Winning Moves's benchmarkindexTM service has been adopted by UNIDO as a key tool in moving the SPX network to the next level. It is helping the SPXs to become self-sustainable, increasing the technical skills and knowledge of SPX staff, improving internal infrastructure and management information.
Perhaps most importantly, it is being used as a powerful improvement tool to focus the strategic development plans of local businesses, helping them to raise their performance enabling them to act as suppliers to large buyers and compete in a global marketplace. This is having the knock on effect of improving the entirety of the supply chains in developing countries, and real successes are already being achieved in South Africa. Ultimately the SPX project aims to 'Reduce poverty through sustainable industrial growth', and benchmarkindexTM is making a significant contribution to achievement of this aspiration.
